Here’s a call to toast a fine man at the beginning of a new journey. Frank Robinson’s passing reminds me of his many excellent books and films, his influence on San Francisco politics as a speech writer for Harvey Milk, his bestselling work with Tom Scortia--which some would call techno-thrillers, but which both Frank and Tom knew were science fiction--and also of one fine day in his beautiful home. Gregory Benford and I dropped by to chat, go out to lunch, and admire Frank’s legendary collection of pulps. Forthwith, a few good pics from that lovely day.
